How to have faith in yourself to achieve your Goals

Setting Goals is important to know where we want to go in this journey called Life. But most of us do not have goals and live life as it comes or even if we set goals for us to achieve a good life, we give up on the way when we face challenges! We give up because we start doubting ourselves, lose our confidence and faith in what we could possibly achieve.

In today’s post, I write about how to have faith in yourself and believing that you can achieve what you want by following your dreams, your goals!

What is Faith?

The dictionary meaning of Faith is “Having complete trust or confidence inHave faith
someone or something”. That someone has to be yourself!

As per Napolean Hill, in his famous book “Think and Grow Rich“, Faith is the Head chemist of the mind. It is the state of mind which may be induced, or created, by affirmation or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind, through the principle of auto-suggestion.

In simple language, it is nothing but belief in yourself and the unseen that your goals, your dreams will come true.

Five ways to learn to believe in yourself

  • It’s Possible

Nothing is impossible. As the famous saying goes, “Even the word impossible says i m possible”. There is nothing that you cannot do what others can do. Everybody is this universe has access to the same resources that you have. It is upto you to make the best of these resources to achieve your goal and it is important to believe it’s possible.

Expect the best to happen and be positive that what you want is going to happen. The mind is a very powerful magnet and it attracts from the universe what you expect, whether positive or negative. Hence, expect only the positive and discipline your mind to filter out the negativity.

  • It’s Hard

If only Life was Easy, it would have been beautiful to live in an ideal world. But that is not the case and we know it. Many a time, everything is going well and then life catches you on the blind side. You get caught in the past thinking how beautiful life was, instead of thinking how to get back on track and live the life that you want to live. Have faith and fight back. Life is hard and you have to fight harder to remain positive and keep the faith.

  • You deserve to live your dreams

You and I deserve every bit of the life that we wish to live. Life’s not fair and it’s so right. Nobody said it would be fair to all. We dream, set goals. But we give up when we face challenges and go back to live the mediocre life which we are used to living.

Believing in ourselves is the start to progressing towards our goals. We can only believe when we know we deserve it!

  • Visualize it

This may sound strange initially, but on practicing “Visualization” on a regular basis, you will start to notice that things are happening that are getting you closer to your goals.

Visualize your goals, see them in your mind as if you already have achieved those goals. Feel them with all your senses – be it a beautiful home, magnificent car, relationships, perfect health conditions, wealth, vacations etc. Be sincere with your thoughts and attach emotions to your thoughts as this will invigorate you and the universe will respond to your thoughts and emotions.

Suddenly you will find yourself doing a lot more of things that you always wished to do but felt inhibited under your normal circumstances.

  • Face your Fears

We all have our fears, something that blocks us, holds us back from living Face your fearsour dreams. Fear is the number one factor which stops and totally defeats us when we are on path to achieving our goals. Fear of doubt, fear of low self-esteem, fear of having no belief, all this leads to having no faith in ourselves.

Look back at your lives. What is that you fear? What is keeping you from doing the things that you would like to do? Don’t condemn yourselves for having those fears. Acknowledge them, embrace them and move on… What you resist will persist!

Quoting Les Brown – Fear is False Expectations Appearing Real. We give our fears more powers than they deserve and permit them to govern our lives.

Face your fears again and again and again. Imagine the worst that can happen. Whatever doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger.

Take Action

Take ActionTaking action is the most difficult of all. You may develop Faith, know that your goals are possible, have belief in yourself, visualize your goals and also face your fears. But knowing all this and taking no action at all puts you back into your comfort zone.

Find what it is that fuels your passion. Go for it with all your faith and you will see changes happening in your life. You will progress towards your goals. Be patient, persistent and positive. Take action towards your goals and you will be happy to live your life as you want it to be.

What to do when you feel Stuck in Life

Life is a journey. There are highs & lows, good & bad, happy & sad times. That’s the reality of Life.

But we got to realize that, it is during the Down moments is where Growth takes place. It is during the tough times that Character is built. Anybody can be happy and positive during the good times. But the real challenge is to grow and move forward when Life knocks you down.

And when life knocks us down, we get stuck in that moment not knowing what to do and emotions like fear, revenge, jealousy keep pulling us down into a spiral.

It does take courage and a lot of positivity to get ourselves out of the rut and in this article, I dwell on something that we can do to pull ourselves up and move on in Life.

Assess your Situation

Evaluate where you are. Assess yourself. What brought you here? What did you learn from it? Is there something you can change now that you couldn’t in the past?

As somebody said “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results”. Are you going through it or growing through it?

Assess your feelings for why you feel stuck – What emotion is weighing you down?

Forgive & Grow

We tend to carry our baggage/ mistakes from our past into our present. Clear your mind of unnecessary baggage.

Focus on what are you going to do now? Forgive your past as probably you did not know at that time if you could do those things better. Learn and grow from your mistakes. You can let the tragedy to destroy your life or grow from it. Declare an all-out war that you are going to get out of the rut.

Don’t stop, stay Busy

Don’t let challenges dictate terms to you. Push them aside and move towards your Goals. Don’t stop, stay busy, work on your plans. Continue to grow.

Help Somebody

Find somebody you can help. What you give is what you get. You will forget Helpyour sorrow and helplessness if you are able to help somebody and it will bring a feeling of pride and fullness.

Meditate

Take time to meditate to clear your mind. Activate the thinker in you. Don’t allow your emotions to control you. Discipline your emotions and thoughts.

Take an example – Weeds don’t need any encouragement to grow. They just grow through the cracks on the ground. But Orchids & Roses need special processes for them to grow. Similarly you don’t need any motivation to be depressed or angry or jealous or hurt but need a lot of motivation to control those emotions and get over them.

Make a declaration

Make a declaration – that you are going to be stronger and better, stand up for your dreams. Go all out to have it. Say to yourself – I am going to do something about this situation

Expect things to get better. Your current situation is not here to stay but it will pass.

Envision your Future

We all go through life with the limited vision that we have or have been conditioned with. Realize and appreciate the fact that there is always a way out. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Take full responsibility for your life. Accept where you are and the responsibility that you will take yourself where you want to go. Say to yourself – “I got me here, I am getting myself out of this”.

Recreate yourself

Decide that you are going to change. Decide that you are going to stand up to Life. You are going to empower yourself. Say to yourself that these are temporary situations and I will evolve and grow. I will no longer be stuck in Life. I am in charge and will build a new me.

Go for walks, engage in reflective thinking, listen to upbeat music to recharge your batteries, read books, listen to tapes that help you motivate yourself.

Separate what you do from who you are. Things you did in the past cannot be changed. Look forward to grow by recreating yourself.

Describe your future self

Have a self-image of what you have always wanted to be. Write a description of the kind of person you want to be. What characteristics you would want to change from your current self? Study your past, examine what went wrong and how you can learn and grow? What are your assets, your strong points and envision your future self.

Look at your past and try to give positive interpretations to things/situations that led you to be stuck in life. You may feel what happened to you was bad, but you look at interpreting it differently that empowers you and you will definitely feel good. Believe in “Whatever happens, happens for the best”.

Find some trusted critics who tell u what you need to hear, not what you want to hear!

Get Unstuck and Grow

Love & Forgive yourself. Let go of the past so that u can grow to your potential thus leading a fulfilled life. Practice looking at the future with theLive your Life feeling that you have received today what you always wanted to achieve.

There will always be setbacks. This is the journey called Life. Know the fact that these are only temporary and how we evolve from those setbacks is our decision, choices that we make.

Live life on your terms, that you are aware, you know that things are going to get better.
